Gregory Wathelet is a cornerstone of the Belgian national show jumping team, having represented his country with distinction at the highest level around the world for many years. He grew up surrounded by horses in the Condroz region of Belgium and took his first steps in the sport at his family’s stables. In 2000, he established his own business and settled at the Trois Provinces stables near Durbuy, owned by the Liégeois family.
He now runs his own stables in Clavier, Belgium, where he coaches riders and trains and trades show jumping horses. Over the course of his career, Wathelet has competed at multiple FEI World Equestrian Games™, Olympic Games and European Championships. In 2017, he claimed one of the most prestigious victories in the sport by winning the Rolex Grand Prix at the CHIO Aachen with Corée.
Since 2017, Gregory Wathelet has firmly established himself as one of the key figures of the Belgian team, delivering a series of landmark results at major championships and on the world’s most renowned arenas. In 2019, he won team gold with Belgium at the European Championships in Rotterdam. Two years later, he played a decisive role in securing team bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, marking Belgium’s first Olympic medal in show jumping since 1976.
Consistently performing at the highest level, he continues to shine in the sport’s leading CSI5* Grand Prix events. In 2025, he finished second in the Rolex Grand Prix at the Brussels Stephex Masters, a Rolex Series event, behind Nina Mallevaey, further confirming his status among the world’s elite and his central role within the Belgian team.
