Angelie von Essen is renowned for her technical agility and remarkable longevity in the sport. Trained from her teenage years by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, she spent a decade working alongside Magdalena Hermelin before moving to England in 2008 to join Davenport Stables. In 2024, she returned to the top level with a combination of composure and efficiency, finishing runner-up in the CSI5* Grand Prix of Birmingham with Daniel after an impressive double clear round against top competitors such as Ben Maher. She also claimed victory in the Hickstead Derby Trial, delivering the only double clear at 1.60m with her mare Jordan. Known for her ability to come back to the highest level after breaks, she rejoined the Swedish national team in 2025 and was selected for the Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi with Daniel.
