Richard Vogel Sets the Pace in Lightning-Fast CSI5* 1.50m at Dinard

On Saturday afternoon, the atmosphere was electric at the Jumping International de Dinard as 34 of the world’s top riders lined up for the CSI5* – 1.50m – Table A against the clock, one of the most exciting speed challenges of the weekend.

The rules were simple: clear and fast wins. But in a class packed with speed specialists and world-class horses, it was anything but easy.

🇧🇪 Abdel Saïd was the first to take on the course, delivering a tidy round with Quaker Brimbelles Z. But the clock caught him out — 2 time faults for exceeding the allowed time, finishing in 75.71 seconds.

Enter 🇩🇪 Richard Vogel, the newly crowned European Champion, and the tone changed instantly. Flying into the arena with Cubi Cubells, Vogel unleashed a masterclass of speed and precision, stopping the clock in a jaw-dropping 61.51 seconds — a time that seemed untouchable.

One by one, his competitors tried to catch him.

🇩🇪 Katrin Eckermann and the fiery Chao Lee came close with a fast, clear 63.13s, setting a strong early benchmark.

Then came the rocket: 🇫🇷 Roger-Yves Bost entered the ring with Bosty-style energy and the crowd on the edge of their seats. He delivered a brilliant clear in 61.99s — fast, but just short of Vogel’s time.

🇫🇷 Julien Épaillard, never one to hold back, launched his bid aboard Fringan de Vesquerie and edged out Bost with 61.85s, sliding into second place.

In total, 10 combinations jumped clear, but none could touch Vogel’s unstoppable performance. His round not only secured victory but also set the tone for Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix Ville de Dinard — he’s a man on a mission.
